--Finance ministry names S Sivasankar as CMD of New India Assurance for 3 mos 

NEW DELHI – The New India Assurance Co. Ltd. Friday said that the Ministry of Finance has given additional charge to S. Sivasankar as chairman cum managing director with effect from the date of vacancy, Aug. 1. Sivasankar, who serves as the executive director of the company, will hold the position for an initial period of three months or till such time a regular chairman cum managing director is appointed or until further orders, whichever is earliest, the company said in an exchange filing.

Sivasankar was appointed to the board of The New India Assurance as an executive director on Feb. 20. For the June quarter, the company reported a net loss of INR 2.57 billion on total income of INR 112.36 billion. At 1248 IST, shares of the company traded at INR 198.50 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, up 0.5% from Thursday.  End
