One MobiKwik Systems expands digital forex offering to 6 currencies

NEW DELHI – One MobiKwik Systems Ltd. has expanded its digital foreign exchange offering to six currencies from one earlier, the company said in a release on Thursday. The digital wallet service provider has now added the United Arab Emirates' dirham, Canadian dollar, British pound, euro, and Swiss franc to its existing US dollar offering.
The expansion comes after Reserve Bank of India announced expansion of its FX-Retail platform and Bharat Connect by introducing five new currencies to broaden retail access to foreign exchange beyond traditional banking channels. The central bank had made the announcement Wednesday at the Global Fintech Fest in Mumbai.
The multi-currency offering will allow customers to access foreign exchange digitally for overseas travel, education and other eligible foreign exchange requirements, the company said. "Through the FX Retail offering, users can digitally book foreign currency, top up Forex cards and remit funds overseas. Currency notes can be collected through branches, while remittances can be processed through bank redirection and branch channels," the company said.
The current offering is available to resident individuals, subject to Permanent Account Number or PAN and primary-account-holder validation. Customers can transact up to $3,000 equivalent per transaction for currency notes and $10,000 equivalent per transaction for card and remittance services, with equivalent limits applicable across the supported currencies.
For the June quarter, One MobiKwik posted a net profit of INR 76.16 million, a positive turnaround from a loss of INR 419.20 in the year ago quarter. Its total income rose over 2% on year to INR 2.89 billion. At 1140 IST, shares of the company traded at INR 195 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, down 0.15% from previous close. End
