MUMBAI – Bank of Baroda Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Debadatta Chand said fintech companies should help banks connect with last-mile customers who want to improve their banking life cycle. "I don't believe any set of customers are not connected with a bank like us, but there are some segment(s) of customers who are not, I think they (fintech companies) need to take me to them," Chand said in a session at the Global Fintech Festival 2026 here Wednesday.

 

He said fintechs and banks are no longer a competition to each other, which creates a huge opportunity. "So, earlier, when we used to look, banks and fintech as more of a competing thing, that's no more there. Both banks (and fintechs) got the right space, we are collaborating now," Chand said. 

 

The public-sector bank is also trying to build a "BOB Kisan" application which is a "complete agri stack by itself", Chand said. "At the same time, there is an e-marketplace linked to the agri stack."

 

For the June quarter, Bank of Baroda had reported net profit of INR 12.78 billion and total income of INR 366.81 billion. Wednesday, its shares ended at INR 234.10 on the National Stock Exchange, down 1% from Tuesday.  End
