MUMBAI – Indian Bank Ltd. Wednesday said it plans to divest up to 1.5 million shares of National Stock Exchange of India Ltd. in the bourse's upcoming initial public offering. These shares, which represent 17.91% of the lender's total shareholding in NSE, will be sold through an offer for sale, subject to the receipt of all necessary regulatory approvals, the bank said in an exchange filing.

NSE is working towards launching its three-day initial public offering by Sept. 18, a person familiar with the development told Informist. The exchange had received approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India for its draft red herring prospectus last week. In the public offer, few existing institutional and corporate shareholders are offloading nearly 149 million shares. There is no fresh issue of equity shares by the NSE.

For the June quarter, Indian Bank had reported net profit of INR 32.73 billion and a total income of INR 207.24 billion. Wednesday, its shares closed at INR 856.65 on the National Stock Exchange, down 0.4% from Tuesday.  End
