Great Eastern secures deal to buy secondhand Kamsarmax Dry Bulk carrier

NEW DELHI – The Great Eastern Shipping Company Ltd. Tuesday said it has contracted to buy a secondhand Kamsarmax Dry Bulk carrier of about 81,609 dead weight tonnage. The 2019-built vessel is expected to join the company's fleet in the December quarter, the company said in a press release.
The proposed vessel will be financed entirely from internal accruals. The purpose of the acquisition is expansion of the fleet, the company said. Currently, the company has a fleet of 40 vessels, comprising 25 tankers and 15 dry bulk carriers aggregating to 3.24 million dead weight tonnage. The company's current capacity utilisation is close to 100%, it said in the release.
For the June quarter, Great Eastern reported a consolidated net profit of INR 13.09 billion on revenues of INR 20.05 billion. Tuesday, shares of the company closed at INR 1,383.80 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, up 0.5% from Monday. End
