KOLKATA – Vishnu Chemicals Ltd. Tuesday said it has executed a definitive joint venture agreement with France-based DCX Chrome SAS, a global manufacturer of high-purity aluminothermic chromium metal and specialised chromium powders, to establish a new greenfield manufacturing facility in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
Both the companies will hold a 50% equity stake each in the proposed joint venture company. The plant is engineered to operate with a substantial installed capacity of 6,000 tonnes per annum, dedicated entirely to producing high-purity chromium metal, the company said in a statement.
As part of the agreement, Vishnu Chemicals will have access to DCX's proprietary process technology, enabling domestic manufacturing to meet stringent global aerospace standards and helping in import substitution of chromium metals. The pact positions both the companies to capitalise on the long-term demand in the global aviation, nuclear energy, deep-water oil exploration, and chemical process industries.
Vishnu Chemicals reported a net profit of INR 396.42 million on revenues of INR 4.33 billion in the June quarter. At 1200 IST, its shares traded slightly higher at INR 730 on the National Stock Exchange. End
