--Eicher Motors launches 'Himalayan 440' priced at INR 229,000 ex-showroom

 

HYDERABAD - Royal Enfield, the motorcycle division of Eicher Motors Ltd., launched Himalayan 440 at its inaugural Himalayan Basecamp in Ladakh on Friday, marking a decade since the Himalayan motorcycle was introduced, the company said.

 

The new motorcycle was launched in three colours – Sela Black, Mustang Brown and Nelong White — and was priced at INR 229,000 ex-showroom. The bookings also opened across the country from Friday, the company said.

 

The Himalayan 440 retained the design philosophy of the original Himalayan while receiving an upgraded frame and a new 443cc long-stroke engine. The engine was paired with a six-speed gearbox and was aimed at improving overall performance and touring capability.

 

The Himalayan brand, which includes the original Himalayan and the Himalayan 450 launched in 2023, has sold more than 320,000 units globally over the past decade, the company said.

 

For the June quarter, the company reported a consolidated net profit of INR 14.63 billion on revenues of INR 66.32 billion. On Friday, shares of Eicher Motors closed at INR 7,630.50 on the National Stock Exchage, down nearly 0.8% from its previous close. End
