NEW DELHI – Having launched two of its top-selling models – Splendor+ and HF Deluxe – in flex fuel-compatible iterations, Hero MotoCorp Ltd. is ready to launch similar variants in other models as well, a senior company official told Informist. "We will look at how the ecosystem develops, but everything is on the anvil. We will launch it in due course as the ecosystem matures," the official said.

Hero MotoCorp had launched the Splendor+ and HF Deluxe Premium, compliant with flex fuel, earlier in June. The company managed to get 5,000 bookings in the first month of the launch. The official refused to divulge fresh booking details, but said that the bookings have been steadily increasing. India currently has 48 operational flex fuel pumps in India. Plans are underway to increase this to 500 by December and 5,000 by December 2027.

"Today, we are largely constrained by the ecosystem in terms of how many fuel pumps are dispensing that petrol. In markets there are (available fuel pumps), there is very strong demand for this," the official said.

FESTIVALS, DEMAND

Ahead of the festival demand, the company is seeing good traction across categories as the industry continues to benefit from the cut in Goods and Services Tax in late 2025. "We believe that the sentiment is going to continue going forward because GST impact is not only on the bikes, but also on the entire basket of offerings," the official said. Hero MotoCorp commands a dominant market share exceeding 80% in India's entry-level motorcycle segment, where vehicles have an engine capacity under 110 cubic centimetres.

"Scooters, of course, are doing better. That's also aided by the fact that, today, especially Hero MotoCorp, our EV portfolio doing so very well, we have new set of customers walking into our showrooms, families, young folks," the official said.

Only one-third of Hero MotoCorp's two-wheeler line-up comprises scooters. "From more of a mid-term perspective (1-1.5 years), you would see the growth of scooters and motorcycles balancing out," the official said.

Two-wheelers account for over 80% of the automobiles sold in India. Their sales sky-rocketed in the festival season last year post the GST cut. "You need to factor in some amount of pent-up demand (in 2025's festival season)... There was this period of relative lull, which manifested very strongly during Navratra period," the official said, adding that the growth in this year's festival season will largely be similar.

The company does not plan on offering higher discounts to push sales. "Discounting will not be any more than the previous years, they will be more or less stable," the official said.

Friday, its shares ended 0.2% lower at INR 5,300 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
