NEW DELHI – Bank of India on Friday said the United Forum of Bank Unions, an umbrella organisation of various unions representing bank employees and officers, has served notice to go on strike on Sept. 11 and Sept. 28-30. The unions have also threatened a continuous strike from Oct. 26, the bank said in an exchange filing.
The unions have served notice to strike on various issues, the bank said, without detailing the demands. "The bank is taking all the necessary steps for the smooth functioning of the bank's branches and offices on the day of the strike. In the event the strike materialises, the functioning of the branches and offices may be affected," the state-owned bank said.
Meanwhile, Mint reported that the United Forum of Bank Unions is on strike, demanding a switch to a five-day workweek and addressing several unresolved pension and service-related issues. They have also opposed the government's revised performance-linked incentive scheme for senior bank officers.
Friday, Bank of India's shares ended flat at INR 145 on the National Stock Exchange. End
