MUMBAI – Tata Chemicals Ltd. Friday reiterated that it has submitted all required information, reports, and documents to the Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs in Kenya on Aug. 11 regarding its arm, Tata Chemicals Magadi Ltd. The Kenyan ministry had directed Tata Chemicals Magadi to suspend its mining operations due to violations of compliance related to royalty, export, and community development agreements, among others, according to an exchange filing dated Jul. 29. The ministry had also directed the subsidiary to suspend exports of soda ash.

 

Tata Chemicals, in an exchange filing, said its subsidiary is fully compliant with regulatory requirements and is awaiting the Kenyan ministry's review of its submissions and further direction. 

 

The company also stressed its commitment to resolve the outstanding matter through appropriate legal and regulatory channels, according to the filing. 

 

For the June quarter, Tata Chemicals had reported a consolidated net loss of INR 170 million on revenues of INR 42.55 billion. At 1251 IST, its shares traded 2.3% lower at INR 626.90 apiece on the National Stock Exchange.  End
