HYDERABAD – Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. expects to complete the demerger of its trucks and buses division and integrate it with its subsidiary SML Mahindra Ltd. by January, Vinod Sahay, president of the trucks and buses division, told Informist. Speaking on the sidelines of its new truck platform, BLAZO i-TRK, here Thursday, Sahay said the integration process of both companies is underway, awaiting regulatory approvals. 

 

He said once the merger is completed, brands under both companies will continue. M&M completed the acquisition of a 58.96% controlling stake in SML Isuzu Ltd. for INR 5.55 billion in August 2025.

Sahay said the company is planning to launch its first electric small bus by Apr-Jun through SML Mahindra. It is working on several products to address the fuel cost issue in the heavy commercial vehicles segment. The company is developing an electric light commercial vehicle, which may take a few years to take shape. The latest BLAZO platform is expected to cut the operating costs of the vehicle and benefit transporters, he said. M&M is eyeing a 10-12% market share in its trucks and buses business by the financial year 2029-30 (Apr-Mar) from 6% now.

 

For the June quarter, M&M had reported a net profit of INR 36.85 billion on revenues of INR 419.59 billion. Thursday, its shares ended at INR 3,150 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, 1.3% lower than Wednesday.  End
