NEW DELHI – The subsidies and government support for the automotive industry will come to an end over the next four to five years and currently, they have already ended in some segments, Heavy Industries and Steel Secretary Kamran Rizvi told automobile executives at the 66th Soceity of Indian Automobile Manufacturers annual convention Thursday.
On the upcoming free trade agreement with the UK, the secrretary said, "The UK FTA is coming up. ICE cars, electric cars, they will be coming into the country." The secretary sees this as an opportunity for the nation to sell cars in the European markets. "Sell our trucks, buses, three-wheelers, two-wheelers in Europe," he added.
Rizvi said cars made in India can eye European markets by providing reliable, secure, cheap and quality vehicles. "How we can capture European markets, we must work on that," he said. End
