NEW DELHI – RBL Bank mobilised foreign currency non-resident (banks) deposits worth $3.40 billion under the Reserve Bank of India's special swap facility till Monday, which was the deadline, the lender said in an exchange filing Wednesday. "Loans provided by the international banking unit of the bank against such deposits are $1.08 billion," it said.
In June, the RBI had announced a swap window to boost foreign capital inflows, under which the central bank would bear the hedging costs for banks converting funds raised through mobilisation of three- to five-year FCNR(B) deposits. Later, the RBI brought forward the deadline for the FCNR(B) deposits to Monday, against the earlier deadline of Sept. 30.
RBL Bank had reported a net profit of INR 2.54 billion for the June quarter, up nearly 27% on year. Its total income for the period rose over 6% on year to INR 48 billion. Wednesday, the bank's shares ended at INR 389.40 apiece, down 2.3% from Tuesday, on the National Stock Exchange. End
