Low pressure to bring extremely heavy rains over east MP till Thu, says IMD

NEW DELHI – The influence of a well-marked low pressure area over northeast Madhya Pradesh and other adjoining areas is likely to bring extremely heavy rainfall over parts of east Madhya Pradesh till Thursday, according to the India Meteorological Department. Heavy rainfall is also likely over Vidarbha, west Uttar Pradesh, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim in the next few days. Subdued rainfall is expected over southern peninsular India for the next one week.
A monsoon trough running from northwest Uttar Pradesh to Bangladesh will bring heavy rainfall in the area, the weather bureau said. A western disturbance is present and lies as a trough in the area across India's northwest border. Due to these weather systems, isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Himachal Pradesh till Thursday, Uttarakhand from Thursday till Tuesday, over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Punjab till Saturday, and west Uttar Pradesh on Friday. East Rajasthan can expect very heavy rainfall Friday and Saturday, while west Uttar Pradesh will receive very heavy rainfall till Wednesday.
A well-marked low pressure system over northeast Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas will likely become a low pressure area in the next 12 hours. This will move across south Uttar Pradesh and north Madhya Pradesh in the next 24 hours, the weather bureau said. There is also upper air cyclonic circulation over the Arabian Sea and the Saurashtra region. A trough connecting the cyclonic circulation over the Arabian Sea and the low pressure area over Madhya Pradesh may lead to extremely heavy rainfall over east Madhya Pradesh till Thursday.
Heavy rainfall may occur over west Madhya Pradesh till Monday and east Madhya Pradesh intermittently till Monday. Chhattisgarh may see heavy rainfall Wednesday and Vidarbha Friday. Vidarbha may see very heavy rainfall Thursday, while east Madhya Pradesh may see it on Friday and Saturday.
In east India, very heavy rainfall is likely over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim till Thursday, while heavy rainfall is likely from Friday to Tuesday. Heavy rainfall is expected over Bihar Thursday and Friday, and Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal Tuesday. In northeast India, heavy rainfall is expected till Tuesday over Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Assam and Meghalaya may see heavy rainfall between Wednesday and Tuesday.
