JLR launches electric SUV 'Range Rover Electric' in India

--JLR launches Range Rover Electric in India
MUMBAI – Jaguar Land Rover Automotive PLC, the UK-based subsidiary of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., launched the Range Rover Electric in India, more than a year after its planned launch. The luxury electric sports utility vehicle, set to be built in Solihull, England, is powered by two 260-kilowatt permanent magnet electric motors producing a combined output of 405 kW and 850 Newton-metres of torque, JLR said in a press release.
Bookings for the Range Rover Electric have now begun for standard-wheelbase body design for the Autobiography trim, and a long-wheelbase body design for the SV, SV Ultra, and SV Black versions, JLR said. A curated standard-wheelbase first edition is also available, in Belgravia Green, Santorini Black or Varesine Blue, it added.
The vehicle is said to give a range of up to 600 kilometres on a full charge, with a real-world range of up to 535 km. It is powered by a usable 118.5 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion double-stack battery and an advanced 800-volt architecture that provides fast, adaptable split-charging capability. It can be charged from 10% to 80% in around 22 minutes using 350 kW rapid direct current public chargers, JLR said. To support production of Range Rover Electric, JLR transformed its Solihull manufacturing facility, combining advanced manufacturing, digital technology and a major investment in electrification skills. Customers can remain connected to their car through the Range Rover application, it added.
At 1518 IST, shares of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles traded slightly higher at INR 312 on the National Stock Exchange. For the June quarter, it had reported a consolidated net profit of INR 7.75 billion on revenue of INR 957.99 billion. JLR contributes roughly 80% to the consolidated profitability of Tata Motors PV.
