--UltraTech Cement to include over 600 EV trucks by Dec for logistics ops

--UltraTech signs pact with Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, others for EV trucks 

MUMBAI – UltraTech Cement Ltd. Wednesday said it will include over 600 electric trucks by December to scale up its electric vehicle fleet in the supply chain. The company has signed agreements with Tata Motors Ltd., Ashok Leyland Ltd., IPLTech Electric, Energy in Motion Ltd. and Sany, along with their subsidiaries and other third-party logistics providers to deploy the electric trucks, according to an exchange filing.

The fleet will reduce net annual carbon dioxide emissions by more than 117,000 tonnes and also replace 39 million litres of diesel per year. The fleet will be used to transport nearly 5 million tonnes of clinker and other key materials across Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Odisha, the company said.

UltraTech Cement had reported consolidated net profit of INR 25.99 billion on revenues of INR 246.48 billion for the June quarter. At 1159 IST, its shares traded over 1% lower at INR 11,213 apiece.  End
