Hero MotoCorp August sales up 3% YoY at 568,398 units, exports down 25%

MUMBAI – Hero MotoCorp Ltd. Tuesday said it sold 568,398 two-wheelers to dealerships in August, up around 3% on year. Its VAHAN registrations across India grew 19% on year, reflecting strong retail growth momentum, the company said in a press release. The company's domestic sales rose 4.5% to 542,305 units while exports fell 24.5% to 26,093 units.
Despatches of its motorcycles fell 1.5% to 493,851 units, while wholesale sales of its scooters jumped nearly 43% to 74,547 units. Splendor and the new Passion maintained strong retail traction in August, supported by the Glamour X and the upgraded Super Splendor XTEC 2.0. The Destini and Xoom series continued to lead the scooter category, the company said.
The company's domestic internal combustion engine business recorded despatches of 516,747 units in August, and 18% retail growth in VAHAN registrations. "The continued retail momentum augurs well for the festive season, supported by a more flexible supply chain ecosystem with its ability to respond quickly to festive demand," the company said.
The company sold a total of 2.78 million two-wheelers in Apr-Aug, up over 17% on year. Of these, 2.45 million were motorcycles and 332,456 were scooters. Hero MotoCorp's exports rose nearly 20% to 163,312 units for the period while domestic sales grew 17% to 2.62 million units.
Hero MotoCorp had reported a net profit of INR 14.54 billion on revenues of INR 129.99 billion for the June quarter. Tuesday, its shares ended at INR 5,555 on the National Stock Exchange, up nearly 2% from Monday. End
