KOLKATA – Ashok Leyland Ltd. Tuesday reported a 38% on-year rise in its total vehicle sales for August at 21,038 units. The company's total sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicles were up 46% on year at 13,719 units. Its total sales for light commercial vehicles were at 7,319 units, up 25%.
In India, the company's total sales in August increased 43% on year to 19,438 units. Sales of medium and heavy commercial trucks rose 60% to 10,748 units, and sales of medium and heavy commercial buses rose 12% to 2,971 units. The company's total sales of light commercial vehicles also rose 25% to 7,319 units in August.
In Apr-Aug, Ashok Leyland's total vehicle sales, including exports, increased 20% on year to 89,391 units. These include sales of 55,413 medium and heavy commercial vehicles, up 18%, and 33,978 light commercial vehicles, up 23%. The company's total domestic sales rose 22% to 83,720 units.
For the June quarter, Ashok Leyland had reported a net profit of INR 6.09 billion on revenues of INR 96.34 billion. At 1329 IST, shares of the company traded at INR 171.53 on the National Stock Exchange, down 2.3% from Monday. End
