NEW DELHI – Hyundai Motor India Ltd. Tuesday reported wholesale sales of 65,796 units in August, up almost 9% on year. Its despatches in India grew sharply on year but exports reported a drop.
The company sold 54,396 cars to dealerships in India in August, up 24% on year. "Our August domestic sales of 54,396 units (+23.6% YoY), the highest-ever figure for any August month, reflect the popularity of Hyundai's versatile product portfolio," its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Tarun Garg said in a press release.
However, its exports fell 31% on year to 11,400 units. "While total exports in August were impacted by logistical constraints arising from the ongoing conflict in West Asia and the broader geo-political environment during the month, we remain optimistic that export demand will continue to be strong in the coming months as the geo-political situation improves," Garg said.
For the June quarter, Hyundai Motor had reported a consolidated net profit of INR 8.89 billion on revenues of INR 163.35 billion. At 1209 IST, its shares traded slightly higher at INR 2,218.50 on the National Stock Exchange. End
