NEW DELHI – Sudarshan Chemical Industries Ltd. Tuesday said its step-down wholly-owned subsidiary Sudarshan Germany Horizons GmbH plans to sell VP4 Frankfurt GmbH for 76.50 million euros (around INR 8.45 billion). It will sell VP4 Frankfurt to Celanese US Holdings LLC, according to an exchange filing.
VP4 Frankfurt, a subsidiary of Sudarshan Germany Horizons, manufactures certain intermediate chemicals such as Diketene, with most of the products sold to Nutrinova. Diketene is an intermediate chemical for functional food ingredients such as artificial sweeteners. Only a small share of the VP4 Frankfurt's output went to Sudarshan for captive consumption. Nutrinova will continue to supply Sudarshan with the materials it requires, the company said.
"The sale of VP4 Frankfurt is a strategic step in sharpening our focus," Rajesh Rathi, chairman and managing director of Sudarshan Chemical, said. "VP4 is a well-run business with a strong team, and it now moves to the company it already serves."
VP4 Frankfurt became part of Sudarshan Chemical through its earlier acquisition of the Heubach Group. As of Mar. 31, VP4 Frankfurt's revenue contribution was 15.72 million euros, which translated into 6.7% of Sudarshan Chemical's standalone revenue and 1.6% of the consolidated revenue.
Sudarshan Chemical had reported a net profit of INR 973 million on revenues of INR 26.42 billion for the June quarter. Monday its shares ended slightly higher at INR 1,266.80 apiece on the National Stock Exchange. End
