MUMBAI – Varroc Engineering Ltd.'s step-down subsidiary Varroc Electronics Romania S.R.L has initiated fresh proceedings before the Paris Commercial Court seeking to recover around 67 million euros (around INR 7.44 billion) from French company Opmobility Lighting Holding Plastic Omnium Group and its subsidiaries under a supply agreement, the company said in a stock exchange filing Friday. "The matters are at a preliminary stage and notices are currently in the process of being served on OP Mobility," Varroc Engineering said.
The company said this move by its Romanian subsidiary comes alongside the withdrawal of pending appeal proceedings in the French courts in an earlier case relating to the same supply agreement. Under the same supply agreement, the subsidiary had earlier filed claims for 76 million euros (around INR 8.44 billion), but the ruling was not in its favour. The company then appealed against the court's ruling. OP Mobility had also filed a counterclaim, and Varroc Electronics Romania's net quantum of claims was 39.16 million euros (around INR 4.35 billion).
Friday, shares of Varroc Engineering ended at INR 821.85 on the National Stock Exchange, up 1.1% from the previous close. End
