Cupid Ltd's board OKs setting up manufacturing joint venture in South Africa

NEW DELHI – Cupid Ltd. Friday said its board had approved setting up a joint venture to manufacture and supply male condoms and related products in South Africa. The company plans to set up the plant in South Africa due to an increasing emphasis on domestic manufacturing, localisation, and local value addition, it said in an exchange filing. 

 

Cupid will provide its technical and manufacturing expertise, know-how, technology-transfer support, quality-control systems and training, and has proposed holding a 49% equity stake in the joint venture. The required capital expenditure, working capital and operating funding are proposed to be arranged by the South African partner, the company said. The company has not disclosed who will be its South African partner. 

 

Cupid had reported a consolidated net profit of INR 441.49 million on revenues of INR 1.55 billion for the June quarter. Its shares ended 2% higher at INR 282.33 apiece on the National Stock Exchange.  End
