Ola Electric launches S1Z for mass market with locally developed battery

MUMBAI – Ola Electric Mobility Ltd. Friday launched the S1Z scooter, fitted with its indigenously developed Bharat Cell lithium iron phosphate battery, or LFP technology, for the mass market. Prices of the 3.1 kilowatt-hour variant of the scooter start at INR 79,999 and the 5.1 kilowatt-hour variant at INR 99,999 ex-showroom, on an introductory basis, the company said in an exchange filing.
The 46 series of lithium iron phosphate battery cell platform was developed at Ola Electric's Battery Innovation Centre and manufactured at the Ola Gigafactory. Deliveries of the scooter with the smaller battery variant will start in December and of scooters with the bigger battery variant in March. The scooters will provide a range of 179 kilometres and 301 km, depending on battery size.
For the June quarter, Ola Electric had reported a consolidated net loss of INR 3.36 billion on revenues of INR 4.55 billion. At 1402 IST, its shares were at INR 39.06 on the National Stock Exchange, up almost 4% from Thursday. End
