NEW DELHI – Hindalco Industries Ltd. Thursday said it has commissioned a greenfield manufacturing plant for superfine precipitated aluminium trihydrate in Belagavi, Karnataka, with an annual production capacity of 30,000 tonnes. The plant is India's first facility for domestic production of superfine precipitated aluminium trihydrate, a high-value, halogen-free flame-retardant material used in fire-safe cables, polymer insulators, thermal insulation, composites, and paints, as mentioned in the exchange filing by the company.
The company said the Phase 1 capacity of 30,000 tonnes per annum is designed to meet almost the entire domestic demand for safer cables from the wire and cable industry. The facility can be expanded in phases to 60,000 tonnes to cater to market growth.
"The facility has been developed through Hindalco's flask-to-factory innovation journey, with technology and R&D developed in-house from the ground up. The plant incorporates automated controls for critical processes and a fully integrated manufacturing ecosystem, enabling stringent control over feedstock quality and product consistency," the company said in the exchange filing.
For the June quarter, Hindalco Industries reported a consolidated net profit of INR 70.13 billion on revenues of INR 848.25 billion. AT 1010 IST, shares traded at INR 1,045.40 on the National Stock Exchange, down 0.7%. End
