Godrej Consumer inaugurates 4th manufacturing unit in MP; expects INR 38 billion turnover

MUMBAI – Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. Wednesday inaugurated its fourth manufacturing unit at Malanpur, Madhya Pradesh. The company invested over INR 4.80 billion in this expansion, taking its cumulative investment in Malanpur to INR 8.50 billion. The company expects this expansion to generate a turnover of INR 38 billion once fully operational, Nisaba Godrej, executive chairperson of the company, said in a press release.
The Malanpur plant spans 65 acres. This expansion has raised the facility's total soap manufacturing capacity to over 200,000 tonnes per annum, Aasif Malbari, managing director and chief executive officer of the company, said in the release. "This expansion makes Malanpur home to Asia's largest integrated soap manufacturing facility, with our lines here capable of producing up to 4,000 soap bars every minute," Godrej said.
For the June quarter, the company reported a consolidated net profit of INR 5.05 billion on revenues of INR 42.25 billion. Wednesday, its shares ended at INR 922.80 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, down 0.7% from Tuesday. End
