Antitrust body rules in favour of CEAT in 2019 bid-rigging issue

--CEAT: CCI finds no violation by co in alleged bid-rigging case of 2019
MUMBAI – The Competition Commission of India last week passed an order in its probe into alleged rigging of bids in procurement tenders of state transport undertakings, wherein the fair trade body found no contravention on the part of CEAT Ltd., the company said in an exchange filing Tuesday.
The case stems from a tender floated by Haryana Roadways in 2018, wherein it was concluded that CEAT and J.K. Tyre & Industries Ltd. had colluded with marketing agencies and engaged in cartelisation, according to tax news portal TaxGuru. The antitrust body has now held that evidence did not establish collusion by either of the tyre companies.
For the June quarter, CEAT had reported a net profit of INR 980 million on revenues of INR 41.63 billion. Tuesday, its shares ended at INR 3,532.90 on the National Stock Exchange, down almost 1% from Monday. End
