NEW DELHI – Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal Tuesday held discussions in Tokyo with senior leaders of Japanese financial institutions including Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Development Bank of Japan, Mizuho, Morgan Stanley, Nomura and Nippon Life. Goyal discussed strengthening long-term capital flows and deepening investment partnerships, a government release said.
Goyal highlighted opportunities for Japanese investors in semiconductors, artificial intelligence, data centres, renewable energy, green hydrogen, advanced manufacturing and digital infrastructure in India, the release said. The Japanese companies urged the minister to simplify profit repatriation, improve access to Indian capital markets and ensure greater regulatory predictability for long-term investors. Goyal reiterated the government's commitment to continuously improve the ease-of-doing business and create a more seamless investment environment, the release said. End
