NEW DELHI – The Reserve Bank of India's house price index rose 3.6% on year in the June quarter, same as the growth seen in the corresponding quarter a year ago, with cities like Chandigarh, Jaipur, Kanpur, Lucknow, and Thiruvananthapuram contributing to the rise, the central bank said Monday. On a sequential basis, the index grew 1.1% in the June quarter, largely through contributions from Chandigarh, Lucknow, and Thiruvananthapuram.
At 3.6%, the index maintained its trajectory of being around 3.6% since the March quarter of the financial year 2024-25 (Apr-Mar), barring the 4.5% rise seen in the March quarter of FY26. The rise in the trailing quarter was led by cities like Nagpur, Jaipur, Chandigarh, and Kanpur.
Since the June quarter of FY24, the RBI has been releasing the quarterly house price index with a new base year of FY23. The index now covers 18 major cities, including Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Lucknow, Thane, Gautam Buddha Nagar, and Chandigarh. End
