--SEBI aligns cyber-sec incident reporting norms with fincl stability board
MUMBAI – The Securities and Exchange Board of India has aligned its cyber security incident reporting portal with the "Format for Incident Reporting Exchange", or FIRE, framework, developed by the Financial Stability Board, the regulator said Monday in a circular. The framework enables structured incident reporting by defining common information fields, standardised definitions, and consistent classification of incident attributes promoting harmonisation across sectors or jurisdictions, it said.
The regulator has streamlined the framework to address evolving cyber threats and ensure the security of the securities market ecosystem with prompt reporting of these incidents to contain attacks, implementation of mitigation measures, and strengthening of defences.
The portal will facilitate reporting of incidents in stages to reflect the whole incident life cycle. Regulating entities will report cyber incidents through SEBI's cyber incident reporting portal. This portal mandates all regulated entities to report a cyber security incident through "mkt_incidents@sebi.gov.in" within six hours and with the incident reporting portal within 24 hours. End
