HYDERABAD - Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's proposed visit to the US was cancelled after the Ministry of External Affairs denied "political clearance" for the trip, according to a note released by the Chief Minister's Office on Friday.
Revanth Reddy, the chief minister of the Congress-ruled Telangana, is currently in London as part of an official delegation and will return to Hyderabad on Sunday instead of proceeding to Boston and New York as planned earlier. The Centre had approved the UK leg of the tour but denied permission for the US visit after the delegation reached London, the CMO said.
Reddy instructed state officials to proceed with the US tour and sign proposed memorandum of understanding and partnership agreements with leading institutions, including Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Northeastern University, and Virginia Tech.
The chief minister will continue his scheduled meetings in the UK with academics and officials from Oxford University, Cambridge, the London School of Economics, the London Business School, and the University of London, besides engaging with sports and skilling institutions, the note said. End
