MUMBAI – Larsen & Toubro Ltd. Thursday said its transportation infrastructure business vertical, in consortium with Japan's Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, has been awarded a "large" order to design and build an automated people mover system for the first phase of Dubai's Al Maktoum International Airport. The consortium will deliver a fully integrated system on a turnkey basis, which includes designing, constructing, supplying, testing, commissioning, and the operational readiness of all associated infrastructure systems, the company said in an exchange filing.
L&T classifies "large" order as those with a value between INR 25 billion and INR 50 billion. "Under the Design-and-Build contract, L&T will undertake the design, procurement, delivery and integration of critical APM (automated people mover) infrastructure and systems, including guideways, DC (direct current) traction substations, power distribution, signalling and telecommunications, onboard communication systems for vehicles, platform screen doors and depot equipment," the company said in a statement.
For the June quarter, L&T had reported a consolidated net profit of INR 41.23 billion on revenue of INR 679.42 billion. At 1036 IST, its shares traded 0.3% higher at INR 4,053.90 on the National Stock Exchange. End
