--BSE to explore launching derivatives linked to MSCI indexes
MUMBAI – BSE Ltd. has entered into an agreement with global index provider MSCI to explore the launch of futures and options contracts in India linked to several of the latter's indices, the stock exchange said Wednesday in a release. There is an increasing need for derivatives due to the amount of capital benchmarked against indices and the improved "tradability" of index-based products through exchange-traded funds, BSE said.
Derivatives linked to indices can help managers facilitate fund flows and manage equity exposure. Wednesday, shares of BSE ended at INR 3,352 on the National Stock Exchange, up 1.3% from Tuesday. For the June quarter, BSE reported a consolidated net profit of INR 8.74 billion on revenues of INR 15.66 billion. End
