NEW DELHI – Foreign direct investment by Indian companies in their overseas joint ventures and subsidiaries rose nearly 17% on year to $5.71 billion in July, according to data released by the Reserve Bank of India Tuesday. Indian companies had committed $4.89 billion to outward foreign direct investment in July 2025, while the figure for June was revised higher to $3.15 billion from the provisional $2.99 billion.

Domestic companies issued guarantees worth $2.81 billion for their overseas subsidiaries and joint ventures in June, up over 18% from a year ago. Quest Global Engineering Services Pvt. Ltd. issued the largest guarantee worth $684 million for its wholly-owned subsidiary Quest Global Engineering Solutions PTE Ltd. in Singapore.  

Of the total overseas investments in July, companies invested $2.02 billion as equity, marginally down from $2.08 in July last year. Companies committed $876.24 million, more than double from $432.66 million in loans in July 2025. The data, based on online reporting by authorised dealer banks, is provisional and subject to change, the RBI said.  End
