MUMBAI – Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. Friday unveiled its midsize pickup vehicle Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler, which it had first showcased as a concept in South Africa three years ago. The car will debut in India in April next year, with prices set at INR 1.98 million ex-showroom.

"Targeting the high-potential midsize lifestyle pickup segment across Australia & New Zealand, South Africa, Africa, Middle East (West Asia) and Latin America, the Mahindra Lifestyler has been designed as a global product capable of meeting diverse customer needs and market requirements," the company said in an exchange filing. 

The vehicle was originally designed at the Mahindra India Design Studio in Mumbai, and developed at Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai. It will be available in three versions - Valley Edition, Reef Edition, and Trail Edition. 

M&M reported a net profit of INR 36.85 billion for the June quarter, up around 7% on year. The net profit was a tad above the consensus estimate of INR 35.96 billion. Friday, its shares ended almost flat at INR 3,428.30 on the National Stock Exchange.   End
