MUMBAI – Ahluwalia Contracts (India) Ltd. reported a sharp fall in its consolidated net profit for the June quarter due to higher operating expenses. The company reported strong revenue growth, beating the Street estimates, but net profit missed the projections.

 

The company reported a consolidated net profit of INR 103.88 million for the June quarter, down nearly 80% from INR 512.11 million a year ago and below analysts' consensus estimate of INR 588.13 million. The company's revenue from operations rose 12% on year to INR 11.26 billion from INR 10.05 billion. The analysts estimated the top line to be INR 11.02 billion. Total income rose nearly 12% on year to INR 11.42 billion and other income was nearly flat at INR 157.28 million.

 

The company's total expenses for the June quarter rose over 18% on year to INR 11.26 billion. The cost of materials consumed for the June quarter grew nearly 23% on year to INR 5.25 billion. Sub-contact work increased nearly 11% to INR 3.38 billion and employee benefits expense rose nearly 32% on year to INR 1.20 billion. The other expenses of the company fell nearly 3% to INR 211.47 million.

 

Ahluwalia Contracts announced its June quarter earnings after market hours. Friday, its shares closed at INR 837.35 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, up more than 2% from Thursday.  End
