MUMBAI – Tube Investments of India Ltd. Friday reported a fall in its net profit for the June quarter as a rise in expenses outpaced growth in revenues. The rise in expenses was driven by an increase in the cost of materials consumed, employee benefits expense, and other expenses.

 

The engineering and manufacturing company reported a standalone net profit of INR 1.59 billion for the June quarter, down nearly 6% from INR 1.68 billion reported in the year-ago quarter. Sequentially, the net profit declined more than 44% from INR 2.84 billion.

 

The company's revenue from operations rose nearly 18% on year to INR 22.28 billion. For the year-ago quarter, it had reported a revenue of INR 18.92 billion. Sequentially, the revenue from operations was up 4% from INR 21.45 billion.

 

The total expenses of Tube Investments in the June quarter rose 20% on year to INR 21.71 billion. The cost of materials consumed rose over 22% on year to INR 14.32 billion, employee benefits expenses rose over 15% to INR 1.93 billion, and other expenses grew 25% to INR 4.23 billion.

 

The engineering segment of the company remained the largest contributor to Tube Investments' revenues in the June quarter, with sales up nearly 21% on year at INR 15.66 billion. Revenues from the metal formed products segment rose 11% on year to INR 4.08 billion. The mobility segment was up over 26% at INR 2.50 billion. The company's free cash flow for the June quarter was INR 1.74 billion.

 

Tube Investments of India Ltd. detailed its June quarter earnings during market hours. At 1451, its shares were at INR 2,733.70 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, down 1.7% from Thursday. The shares ended at INR 2,733.50.  End
