US natural gas stocks up 36 bcf in week ended Aug 7, says EIA

MUMBAI – Natural gas inventories in the US were up 36 billion cubic feet in the week ended Aug. 7, according to a weekly report from the US Energy Information Administration. The inventory was 6.7% higher than the five-year average for this time of the year, but down 0.8% compared to a year ago this time, the agency said.
Total working gas in underground storage was 3.15 trillion cubic feet as of Aug. 7. The stocks were 198 billion cubic feet above the five-year average of 2.96 trillion cubic feet and 25 billion cubic feet less than last year, the report showed. Total working gas stayed within the five-year historical range.
Of the five regions, stocks in the East, Midwest, Mountain, and the Nonsalt division of South Central registered a rise in stocks. Stocks in the Pacific region and the Salt division of the South Central region saw a decline during the week.
At 0827 IST, the most-active September natural gas contract on the New York Mercantile Exchange was up 0.7% at $2.749 per million British thermal units. End
