MUMBAI – Galaxy Surfactants Ltd. Thursday reported a sharp on-year rise in consolidated net profit for Apr-Jun as growth in revenue outpaced that in expenses. 

 

The specialty ingredients maker reported consolidated net profit of INR 1.66 billion for the June quarter, more than double of INR 795 million reported a year ago. Consolidated revenue from operations rose 39% on year to INR 17.82 billion from INR 12.78 billion a year ago.

 

The company's consolidated profit before exceptional items and tax rose 109% on year to INR 2.07 billion from INR 992 million a year ago. Total expenses rose 33% on year to INR 15.78 billion from INR 11.90 billion.

 

Cost of materials consumed rose 39% on year to INR 12.92 billion from INR 9.26 billion, while employee benefits expense rose 20% to INR 1.00 billion from INR 834.90 million. Other expenses rose 35% to INR 1.72 billion from INR 1.28 billion.  

 

The company's standalone revenue from operations rose 45% on year to INR 12.66 billion in the June quarter from INR 8.74 billion a year ago. Standalone net profit rose 152% on year to INR 1.06 billion from INR 420 million.

Thursday, shares of Galaxy Surfactants closed 3.36% higher at INR 2,090.40 apiece on the National Stock Exchange. The company announced its June quarter earnings after market hours.  End
