Indigo Paints Q1 Profit After Tax sharply up as sales rise outpaces costs

MUMBAI – Indigo Paints Ltd. Thursday reported a significant jump on year in its net profit for the June quarter on the back of strong revenue growth. Sequentially, however, the company's net profit declined.

 

The company's consolidated net profit rose 61% on year to INR 417.50 million. For the year-ago quarter, Indigo Paints had reported a net profit of INR 259.24 million. Sequentially, the company's net profit declined 28% from INR 577 million.

 

The consolidated revenue from operations of Indigo Paints was INR 3.70 billion, up 20% on year from INR 3.09 billion. Sequentially, the revenue was down 13% from INR 4.25 billion.

 

The company's total expenses rose 16% on year to INR 3.24 billion. Slower growth in expenses compared to revenue on an annual basis resulted in a significant jump in the company's net profit. The cost of materials consumed was INR 2.17 billion, up 28% on year. The company's other expenses were unchanged on year at INR 664 million.

 

The company's earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation were INR 620 million, up 40% on year. Its EBITDA margin was 16.8% and net profit margin was 11.0%.

 

The board of Indigo Paints approved a proposal to explore the potential acquisition of additional 11% equity stake in Apple Chemie India Pvt. Ltd. from the existing shareholders. The company currently holds 51% in Apple Chemie India.

 

Indigo Paints announced its June quarter earnings after market hours. Thursday, its shares closed at INR 1,130.40 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, up 0.7% from Wednesday.  End
