NEW DELHI – After falling into the red in the March quarter, Sammaan Capital Ltd. reported a consolidated net profit for the June quarter. While it was profitable, the net profit fell on year owing to a significant drop in revenues. The non-banking financial company's net profit fell despite a sharp fall in expenses. Its finance costs, however, rose during the quarter, impacting the bottom line to an extent.

Sammaan Capital's consolidated net profit for the June quarter was INR 2.43 billion, down over 27% on year. In the trailing quarter, it had reported a net loss of INR 81.01 billion, due to a one-time cost of INR 64.99 billion.

The company's total income during Apr-Jun was INR 16.83 billion, down over 30% on year but up nearly 24% on quarter.

Total expenses fell over 30% on year to INR 13.57 billion in the June quarter. They were down almost 73% on quarter. Finance costs rose almost 12% on year to INR 13.35 billion in Apr-Jun. The company wrote back INR 2.41 billion impairment on financial instruments in the June quarter. Its expense on employee benefits fell over 4% on year to INR 1.77 billion.

The company's assets under management rose to INR 562.39 billion as on Jun. 30 from INR 531.60 billion as of Mar. 31. In May, it said that going forward, it expects its AUM to grow to INR 707 billion in FY27 and reach INR 1.94 trillion by FY30.

The non-bank lender disbursed INR 38.75 billion in the June quarter across five products, driving diversified growth without concentration in any single segment, it said in a press release. Of this, 97% of the disbursements were secured, while 3% were unsecured.

"Our focus remains on growth-oriented disbursals within clearly defined risk guardrails, ensuring that growth is both calibrated and sustainable," Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Gagan Banga said in a press note.

The June quarter was Sammaan Capital's first as part of the International Holding Company PJSC. In May, IHC PJSC became the promoter and controlling shareholder of the company. Sammaan Capital in March said it had received an initial tranche of INR 56.52 billion of the total INR 88.50 billion committed by IHC through its affiliate, Avenir Investment RSC Ltd. Sammaan Capital had issued and allotted 330 million equity shares, 86.89 million Tranche-I warrants, and 219.80 million Tranche II warrants to Avenir Investment.

On Thursday, the company's shares closed 0.7% higher at INR 161.83 on the National Stock Exchange. The company announced its earnings after market hours.  End
