NEW DELHI – Solar Industries India Ltd. Thursday reported a substantial year-on-year jump in its consolidated bottom line for the June quarter as total expenses rose slower than the top line for the three months. Both the net profit as well as revenue supassed the Street's expectations by healthy margins.
The explosives-maker reported a consolidated net profit of INR 6.53 billion for the June quarter, up almost 93% on year and over 19% sequentially. Analysts' consensus estimate had pegged the bottom line at INR 5.15 billion for the quarter.
The Maharashtra-based company's consolidated revenue from operations rose over 70% on year and more than 20% sequentially to INR 36.68 billion for the three months. This was comfortably above the Street's top line expectation of INR 30.01 billion.
Total expenses of the company rose around 63% on year and nearly 19% sequentially to INR 27.74 billion during the reporting quarter.
Solar Industries reported consolidated earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation of INR 10.24 billion for the June quarter, up 82% on year. The consolidated EBITDA margin for the three months expanded 173 basis points on year to 27.91%. The consolidated operating margin for the reporting quarter expanded 351 bps on year to 25.74%
Solar Industries recorded its highest-ever quarterly revenue, EBITDA, profit before tax, and profit after tax in the three months ended Jun. 30, it said in a press release.
Revenue from the defence vertical rose 123% on year to INR 9.33 billion for the June quarter. Backed by a robust order book of over INR 180 billion, a growing portfolio of indigenously developed products, and increasing engagement with customers across domestic and international markets, the company is witnessing a strong pipeline of opportunities, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Manish Nuwal said in a press release. He added that Solar Industries remains confident of securing sizeable new orders in the coming quarters and support the long-term growth trajectory of its defence business.
Domestic sales of explosives contributed INR 13.61 billion to the company's kitty, rising 52% on year, and those from international markets added INR 13.64 billion, up 65% year-on-year. "With growing opportunities across the globe, we are accelerating our pace in international business," Nuwal said.
The company's total order book stood at INR 213.50 billion as of Jun. 30.
On Thursday, shares of the company ended at INR 20,324 on the National Stock Exchange, up 8.5%. End
