MUMBAI – Page Industries Thursday reported steady growth in its revenues for the June quarter on the back of healthy volume growth and broad-based consumer demand during the period. The company's net profit declined marginally as the increase in expenses outpaced the growth in revenues. Both the net profit and revenue were below analysts' consensus estimates.

The innerwear manufacturer reported a net profit of INR 1.93 billion for the June quarter, down 4% from INR 2 billion in the year-ago quarter. Sequentially, the net profit rose 8% from INR 1.79 billion. This was sharply below the Street's estimate of INR 2.27 billion. The company's revenue from operations grew 8% to INR 14.20 billion from INR 13.17 billion for the year-ago quarter. Sequentially, the revenues increased 13% from INR 12.53 billion. The revenue missed the Street's estimate of INR 15.10 billion.

Page Industries reported earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation of INR 2.89 billion for the June quarter, slightly down from INR 2.95 billion in the year-ago quarter. The EBITDA margin contracted to 20.3% from 22.4%.

The company's total expenses rose over 10% on year to INR 11.72 billion for the June quarter. Its cost of traded goods rose over 17% to INR 2.74 billion while the cost of raw materials consumed increased 8% to INR 2.84 billion and other expenses rose 10% to INR 2.75 billion.

Page Industries reported sales volume of 61.2 million units, up 5.7% on year. Short-term disruptions in logistics during Apr-Jun affected production, the company said in an investor presentation. These conditions have since begun to settle, and their impact is likely to be temporary, it said. "Consumer demand is expected to remain strong through the year, supported by encouraging market trends and continued brand relevance," it said in a press release.

Page Industries has declared an interim dividend of INR 200 per share. The record date for the dividend is Aug. 19.

The company detailed its June quarter results during market hours. Shares of Page Industries were down 2.6% from Wednesday at INR 37,305 apiece on the National Stock Exchange at 1438 IST, before the company announced its results. At 1512 IST, the shares were down nearly 5% at INR 36,470 apiece. The stock ended at INR 36,520, down 4.6%.  End
