MUMBAI – Aditya Birla Real Estate Ltd. posted a lower-than-expected consolidated net loss for the June quarter but widened its losses from the year-ago quarter despite strong revenue growth. The company's total expenses were 40% more than its total income, thus dragging its bottom line into a loss. 

 

The real estate company reported a net loss of INR 385.50 million from a net loss INR 254.70 million it had reported in the year-ago quarter. Analysts had estimated a net loss at INR 897.25 million. The company reported a net profit of INR 108.40 million in the trailing quarter.

 

The company's total income from operations rose 30% to INR 1.89 billion from INR 1.46 billion a year ago, beating the Street's estimates of INR 1.08 billion.    

 

Aditya Birla Real Estate's total expenses increased 38% to INR 2.87 billion. The company's other expenditures jumped 61% to INR 1.03 billion, while finance costs surged 266% to INR 258.30 million. Cost of land, construction, other related real estate development costs and other costs rose 13% to INR 824.30 million.  

 

The company reported a loss in its consolidated earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation for the June quarter at INR 380 million, widening from EBITDA loss of INR 280 million a year ago. The company reported an EBITDA loss of INR 1.45 billion in the March quarter. 

 

The total supply in the number of properties available for sale has dropped 12% across Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Pune, Bengaluru, and Delhi-National Capital Region during the June quarter, the company said in its presentation. The supply in the Delhi-NCR market dropped more than half. Meanwhile, the corresponding total absorption has increased 6%.

 

Thursday, shares of Aditya Birla Real Estate ended up 1.4% at INR 1,393.80 apiece on the National Stock Exchange. The company detailed its June quarter earnings during market hours.  End
