--YES Bank board OKs raising funds via medium term note programme

NEW DELHI – YES Bank Wednesday approved setting up of a global medium-term note programme and will issue bonds under Regulation S of the US Securities Act, according to an exchange filing. The bank has the necessary approvals for raising up to INR 85 billion in domestic or foreign currency debt, it said.

"Further, the (board's) Committee has approved the issuance of the offering circular in relation to the MTN Programme," said the filing from late Wednesday.

The bonds will be issued under Regulation S, which allows the offering to be outside the US without securities registration. YES Bank will join peers ICICI Bank and Axis Bank in tapping the offshore market through medium-term notes after a push from the Reserve Bank of India to attract foreign capital since June. The central bank has set up a concessional swap window where the hedging costs of converting offshore foreign currency borrowing to rupees is fixed at 1.5% per annum.

For the June quarter, YES Bank reported a net profit of INR 10.71 billion on total income of INR 98.42 billion. On Wednedsay, its shares ended 1.0% higher at INR 22.98 apiece on the National Stock Exchange.  End
