MUMBAI – SKF India Ltd. Wednesday reported a sharp fall in its net profit for the June quarter over the high base of the year-ago quarter when its bottom line was supported by discontinued operations. The company reported strong growth in revenues for Apr-Jun. However, both net profit and revenues came below the Street's expectations.
The company reported a net profit of INR 618.40 million for the June quarter, down nearly 48% from INR 1.19 billion a year ago, and a turnaround from a loss of INR 202.30 million for the March quarter. However, the net profit missed analysts' consensus estimate of INR 719.50 million. The company's profit from discontinued operations net of tax was INR 718.6 million for the year-ago quarter.
The company's revenue from operations rose 27% on year to INR 5.88 billion from INR 4.63 billion. The estimate for the top line was INR 7.44 billion. Total income rose over 28% to INR 6 billion and other income rose over two times to INR 123.7 million.
Total expenses rose nearly 28% on year to INR 5.16 billion. The company's cost of materials consumed rose 17% to INR 2.20 billion, its other expenses jumped 33% to INR 1.62 billion, and its purchase of stock-in-trade rose nearly four times to INR 1.24 billion.
Wednesday, shares of SKF India ended at INR 1,527.60 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, up 0.3% from Tuesday. The company announced its June quarter earnings after market hours. End
