NEW DELHI/MUMBAI – Eyewear company Lenskart Solutions Ltd. sees significant headroom for same-store sales growth in international markets and plans to accelerate store additions overseas, the company told analysts in a post-earnings conference call Wednesday. Based on store economics, Japan, which is among the company's fastest-growing markets, is now reaching a point where the company would want to accelerate store additions, a top company executive said.

Among other markets, Lenskart Solutions is adding several stores in Thailand and doubling down in West Asia. "And those markets will have economics which are similar to early stages of India. Whereas the more mature geographies, for example, Singapore or Japan, would have economics which are better," the company said.

Overall, the Haryana-based company is replicating the India playbook in international markets. "Our user economics model is very similar. The playbook is no different than what it is in India," it said.

In the June quarter, the consolidated net profit of the company nearly quadrupled to INR 2.22 billion from INR 600.80 million in the year-ago quarter. The consolidated revenue from operations increased 43% on year to INR 27.14 billion. Lenskart's revenues from the India business grew 31% on year to INR 15.31 billion and contribution from international business grew 38% to INR 12.03 billion.

The company reported same-store sales growth of 18.3% on year in India for the three months. This growth was broad-based across tiers, the company said.

The average selling price in India increased 6.4% to INR 1,856, on the back of premiumisation of mix. However, the average selling price overseas was broadly flat on year at INR 5,267, with constant-currency average selling price lower on a seasonally heavier sunglasses mix, the company said. Answering a query on the overall margin for 2026-27 (Apr-Mar) likely being higher than that for the June quarter, a company executive said the endeavour is to improve the metric year-on-year annually. On a consolidated basis, the company's product margin improved to 70.3% in the June quarter from 68.7% a year ago.

The company said short-term pressure could exist if the rupee depreciates further, although its constant endeavour is to continue backward integration and improve cost structure. Lenskart Solutions explained that a significant portion of its revenue comes in non-INR currencies, so there is a natural hedge. Further, it has been able to offset some of the currency pressure by structural initiatives, but it is an ongoing journey.

"A meaningful share of our frame procurement is sourced from China - so depreciation of the rupee against the RMB (renminbi) puts direct pressure on our cost of goods," the company said in a document addressed to shareholders, adding that the product margin remained resilient across both India and internationally during the June quarter, absorbing the currency impact through structural offsets of rising premiumisation and increasing own manufacturing in-house.

Lenskart Solutions sees a big opportunity in creating "the next generation of iconic brands" in the premium lenses category, priced above INR 3,500. The company is also launching radio frequency identification technology in all products, which is expected to speed up the buying experience of customers in stores.

Wednesday, the company's shares ended at INR 586.45 on the National Stock Exchange, down 0.5% from the previous close.  The market will react to Lenskart Solutions' June-quarter earnings Thursday as the company announced its results after market hours. End
