MUMBAI – Sun TV Network Ltd. Wednesday reported strong growth in its net profit for the June quarter, driven by healthy growth in revenue from operations. The company's net profit and revenue comfortably beat the Street's estimates.
The company reported a standalone net profit of INR 6.12 billion, up nearly 16% from INR 5.29 billion reported in the year-ago quarter. This is 21% higher than the net profit of INR 5.05 billion estimated by analysts. The company's revenue from operations rose 13% to INR 14.23 billion from INR 12.57 billion reported in the year-ago quarter. Analysts had expected the revenue to be INR 13.18 billion.
The company's total income for the June quarter rose nearly 11% on year to INR 15.90 billion, while other income fell over 7% on year to INR 1.67 billion. Total expenses increased nearly 5% on year to INR 7.82 billion. Cricket franchise fees rose nearly 31% on year to INR 1.23 billion, and other expenses of the company rose 15% on year to INR 2.63 billion, while operation cost fell nearly 5% on year to INR 2.30 billion
Revenue from advertisements fell nearly 3% on year to INR 2.83 billion. Revenue from subscription only from India went up 3% to INR 4.86 billion. The company's earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation rose neary 19% to INR 7.33 billion. Sun TV Network will pay interim dividend of INR 5 per share.
On Wednesday, the company's shares closed at INR 478.20 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, down 1.1% from Tuesday. The company announced its June quarter earnings after market hours. End
