HYDERABAD – Fluoropolymers and flurochemicals manufacturer Gujarat Fluorochemicals Ltd. Wednesday reported better-than-expected earnings for the June quarter, beating the analysts' estimates.

 

Gujarat Fluoro reported a consolidated net profit of INR 2.21 billion, up 21.4% on year and more than twofold on quarter. The growth in net profit was the highest in three quarters and above analysts' estimate of INR 1.75 billion. The company's profit had contracted in the March and the December quarters. 

 

The company's top line for the quarter was up nearly 24% on year and 16% on quarter at INR 15.88 billion. It posted its highest on-year revenue growth in the last seven quarters.

 

After the company released its earnings for the June quarter on exchanges, its shares rose over 6% to its highest level in over 21 months of INR 4,695 on the National Stock Exchange. The stock was up around 3?fore the earnings were released.

 

 

Robust growth in the chemicals business and additional revenue from the electric vehicle business segment helped the company report healthy revenue growth for the quarter. The company reported a 25% on-year rise in its chemicals segment revenue at INR 16.10 billion. The electric vehicles business reported a revenue of INR 290 million for the quarter, which was just INR 10 million a year ago. Gujarat Fluoro, through its subsidiary GFCL EV Products Ltd., supplies critical intermediate materials for making lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries for EVs.

 

Gujarat Fluoro's total expenses for the quarter increased by nearly 22% on year to INR 12.88 billion. Other expenses rose 38.4% on year to INR 2.92 billion. The company reduced its finance costs by 13.3% on year to INR 260 million. It also reported INR 130 million of foreign exchange gains for the quarter. Input costs for the quarter rose 24.1% on year to INR 5.04 billion. Gujarat Fluoro's tax expenses for the quarter were up 40% on year to INR 910 million.

 

At 1426 IST, shares of Gujarat Fluoro traded at INR 4,605.70 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, up 4.3% from its previous close.  End
