NEW DELHI – India's exports rose around 15% in the first four months of 2026-27 (Apr-Mar) despite various global challenges, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said Wednesday. He, however, did not specify if the growth was only in merchandise exports or services and goods combined. In the first three months of FY27, India's total exports had risen 11.4% on year to $232.73 billion.
Amid the current global uncertainties, when many countries are aiming for 15-16% growth in exports, India has achieved around 15% growth in Apr-Jul, data shows, Goyal said at the Bharatiya Vyapar Mahotsav event. India has set an ambitious target of achieving $1 trillion in exports in FY27 and the growth so far has been very encouraging, he added.
During Apr-Jun, India's merchandise trade deficit widened over 26% on year to $86.86 billion. Merchandise imports rose to $216.18 billion in Apr-Jun from $180.31 billion a year ago, while exports grew to $129.32 billion during the period. Services trade surplus, meanwhile, was $49.44 billion during the same period, up 3.2%. India's services exports rose 6.2% to $103.40 billion in Apr-Jun. End
