MUMBAI – Ashoka Buildcon Ltd. Tuesday reported a marginal rise in standalone net profit for the June quarter despite a decline in revenue. The profit rose as total expenses fell slightly faster than revenue during the quarter.


The construction company reported a standalone net profit of INR 315.37 million for the June quarter, up 3% from INR 306.22 million a year ago. Revenue from operations fell 2% on year to INR 12.88 billion from INR 13.11 billion. The company's profit before tax fell 1% on year to INR 430.10 million from INR 433.32 million a year ago.

 

Total expenses fell 1% on year to INR 12.77 billion from INR 12.96 billion. Construction expenses rose 13% on year to INR 6.94 billion from INR 6.15 billion, while cost of materials consumed fell 18% to INR 3.83 billion from INR 4.65 billion. Other expenses rose 7% to INR 561.97 million from INR 524.36 million, while finance costs fell 28% to INR 602.46 million from INR 840.54 million.
 

The company's other income rose 14% on year to INR 325.66 million from INR 284.78 million, while depreciation and amortisation expense fell 4% to INR 223.24 million from INR 233.60 million.
 

On Tuesday, shares of Ashoka Buildcon ended at INR 116.99 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, marginally down from the previous close. The company detailed its June quarter results after market hours.  End
